Face masks are now compulsory in our shopping centre

A polite reminder to all our customers that from Monday, September 14, the new Welsh Government guidelines are that masks are to be worn in all public places and shops.

That means that visitors to the Aberafan Shopping Centre will have to abide by these rules and we will be politely asking visitors not wearing a mask to comply.

However, there are some exceptions. Under 11-year-olds will not be required to wear masks and neither will individuals with certain medical conditions.

Under the guidelines, you may have a reasonable justification not to wear a face covering if (for example):

  • you are not able to put on or to wear a face covering because of a physical or mental illness, or because of a disability or impairment;
  • you are accompanying somebody who relies on lip reading where they need to communicate; or
  • you are escaping from a threat or danger and don’t have a face covering.

We advise people to carry information if possible which demonstrates why they have a reasonable justification (for example a prescription or evidence such as a hospital appointment letter relating to a medical condition). A number of organisations have created cards that can be downloaded from their websites and printed.

We thank you for your support in complying with these rules. More information can be found on the Welsh Government website here:
