How to wear (and make) a face mask

From Monday, September 14, new Welsh Government guidelines state that masks are to be worn in all public places and shops.

That means that visitors to Aberafan Shopping Centre will have to abide by these rules and we will be politely asking visitors not wearing a mask to comply. However, there are some exceptions. Under 11-year-olds will not be required to wear masks and neither will individuals with certain medical conditions.

There is also a correct way of wearing a mask, however. To provide any protection to others, face coverings need to be made, worn, handled and disposed of in a certain way. The World Health Organisation recommends a minimum of three layers in a face covering.

Face coverings must cover the mouth and nose. When putting coverings on, and while they are on, you should only handle the straps, ties or clips. Do not touch the front of the face covering, or the part of the face covering that has been in contact with your mouth and nose. You should also wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water for 20 seconds or use hand sanitiser before and after removing.
