Aberafan Shopping Centre Donate Shelving to Baby Basics Port Talbot

Date: 13 July 2021 | By: admin

The staff at Aberafan Shopping Centre have donated shelving to support the newly established Baby Basics Scheme at St Marys Church.

Below Lee, our Site Service Manager and Chris, our Centre Manager handover the shelving to Susan, the Church Warden.

Baby Basics is a volunteer-led project supporting vulnerable mothers and their newborn babies. We are delighted it is operating this scheme in Port Talbot.

Baby Basics works with midwives, health visitors and other professional bodies to provide starter packs for those in need. They can help vulnerable groups such as teenage mums, asylum seekers, and women fleeing domestic violence and trafficking. The starter packs will provide a safe bed to sleep in and are packed full of toiletries such as nappies, wipes, maternity pads, as well as blankets, towels and baby clothes.

The Parish is desperate for donations and please asking for any help, below is the list of needed items:

  • Baby grows and vests (newborn – 3 months)
  • Cardigans and jumpers
  • Hats, socks and mittens
  • Coats and snow suits
  • Baby towels
  • Sheets and blankets (for a Moses basket)
  • Nappies (size 0,1,2)
  • Maternity towels and breast pads
  • Baby wipes
  • Baby shampoo
  • Cotton wool (not buds)
  • Baby wash/soap
  • Adult shampoo, shower gel and deodorant
