Aberafan Shopping Centre has won a Gold International Green Award for Carbon Reduction Excellence
Centre Manager Chris Morgan MBE and Operations Manager Julia Harries have expressed their delight after the Centre was awarded a prestigious Gold International Green Apple Award in the Property & Estates category, recognising outstanding achievements in carbon reduction projects such as full use of chemical free cleaning products and uniforms for all staff made from recycled plastics..
The award highlights the Centre’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility, with a series of innovative initiatives that have significantly reduced carbon emissions and improved overall energy efficiency. The team also acknowledged the important role played by the Centre’s Managing Agent, Estama UK Ltd, in supporting and delivering these initiatives.
The award ceremony took place on Monday 13th April 2026 in the historic grounds of Cardiff Castle, providing a fitting backdrop to celebrate global environmental excellence. The award was presented by leading environmental organisation and current Green World Champion of Champions, Taiwan-based TCI.
Speaking after the ceremony, Chris Morgan MBE said:
