Notice re Council Works
Following our previous update, the temporary ramp at Oriel is now in place, allowing the commencement of the next phase of council regeneration works in Port Talbot town centre. Please see below for the latest access information:
What to Expect:
- Access to Oriel will remain open at all times.
- On Tuesday 26/08/25, access to the first floor from outside the shopping centre (by Oriel) will be temporarily closed for approximately 4 weeks due to council improvement works.
- During this time, the first floor of Aberafan Shopping Centre will remain fully open and accessible to customers via the internal stairs and lifts inside. Businesses located on the first floor - including The Hideout, Seven Hair & Body, and Port Talbot Library will be open as usual.
- The covered walkway leading to the centre will also be fenced off, restricting access to one set of automatic doors.
- All other entrances will remain open, with both ramped and stepped access available.
- There will be no disruption to trade or accessible customer access via alternative routes.
