D-Day 80th Anniversary Commemorative Exhibition

To commemorate the 80^th anniversary of the D-Day landings in June 1944, Aberafan Shopping Centre is hosting a museum exhibition in the Centre Square. This is in situ from 29^th May until 4^th September*.

You can view a large-scale re-enactment of the D-Day landings, a museum exhibition of local D-Day and WWII stories, and a display of photos and wartime memorabilia.

Throughout the summer period, we are hosting a series of activities, talks, and events, and showcasing keepsakes. An educational element for local children, planned with their schools, is being hosted in our special ‘classroom’ venue. Please click here for more details.

The exhibition will evolve throughout the summer so, if you, your family, or friends have any snippets and items to share related to WWII in Port Talbot, simply contact the team in the Centre Management office.

Dovetailing with our commemoration, on 6^th June 2024, Aberafan Shopping Centre had the privilege to hold the dedication and service ceremony at the main Landing Craft exhibit. You can read about it here.
